Carpentry and Joinery Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship

If you plan to pursue a career working within the construction industry focusing on carpentry or joinery, this could be the training programme for you.

It’s an advanced course which gives you a broader base of knowledge and experience to prepare you for working within the construction industry.

What do I learn?
Over the one-year programme you learn the advanced theory of site carpentry and gain the practical skills and experience necessary to progress in this industry or related areas. The elements of the course are:
• Level 3 Diploma in Site Carpentry or Joinery
• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Site Carpentry or Joinery
• Functional Skills in English Level 2 and Maths Level 2
• Employment Rights and Responsibilities

You spend one day a week in college participating in classroom and practical-based sessions. The other four days are spent working in the workplace putting what you have learned into practice. College training takes place both in the classroom and the workshops. You then take the skills you have learnt at college out to the workplace and will be expected to bring in work-based evidence and build a portfolio with the evidence you have collected in the workplace.

An assessor will visit your work place to observe your working practices. Functional skills will be delivered at college within your day release.
What do I gain?
You build the advanced knowledge required to carry out many site carpentry tasks, and learn more skilled techniques to help you to progress within the industry.
What do I need?
You need to have achieved the Intermediate (Level 2) Apprenticeship in Carpentry to be considered for the advanced apprenticeship.

On application you will be invited in to the college to sit an initial assessment to make sure that you are at the correct level of learning for the course.
What do I gain?
With the advanced apprenticeship you have a great foundation from which to further your skills and experience within the carpentry and joinery sector.
