Childcare Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship

This Level 3 programme is relevant to a variety of job roles which support children and young people, from birth to 19 years, within the care sector. It meets the standards set by the inspection bodies and gives you essential knowledge which enhances your performance in the workplace.

What do I learn?
The Cache QCF Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce is made up of :
• 27 credits from Group A core units (mandatory)-
• 22 credits from Group C early learning and childcare pathway units
• 16 credits from Group F optional units

To complete the programme successfully, you need to achieve a minimum of 65 credits. You will choose option units that relate to your job role in consultation with your assessor. These units are chosen at the induction session.

You will be allocated an assessor who will meet plan and assess your work. A portfolio of evidence is built by you with guidance from the assessor. Individual learning targets are set at the beginning of the course. You receive regular feedback on your progress throughout your course. You are required to have regular meetings with your assessor where targets will be reviewed within every 10 weeks. You will be internally assessed by a range of methods including direct observation within the workplace.

You will attend workshops to cover knowledge units. Observations and professional discussion will also be used and take place in the workplace.
What do I gain?
With this qualification you are well placed to progress in a childcare career. You might also want to look at our higher education programmes in care.
What do I need?
You need to be working for at least 30 hours per week in a childcare and young people’s setting before you can enrol. Ideally you will be educated to GCSE level with good grades in English and maths. We can discuss this when you apply.
