First Aid at Work Refresher

This two-day refresher/requalification first aid training course covers a wide range of first aid situations at work so you can handle them safely and with confidence.

If the assessment of first aid needs at your workplace highlights the need for qualified first aiders, this Oxford-delivered course provides the correct training.

What do I learn?
You study a range of subjects on the course. These include:
• legalities, responsibilities and reporting
• infection control
• assessment of the situation
• resuscitation
• choking
• dealing with an unresponsive casualty
• others including bandaging, shock, control of bleeding, eye injuries, fractures, head injuries, poisoning, sprains and strains, burns and scalds

All students are assessed by independent assessors on their ability to act safely, promptly and effectively for a casualty who is unresponsive, requires CPR, and who is wounded and bleeding.

Learning activities include theory and practical sessions.
What do I gain?
On successful completion of the course you will gain a qualification that meets the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Subject to assessment, you will be issued with a First Aid at Work certificate (and wallet card) approved by the Health and Safety Executive. This qualification is valid for three years and can then be renewed by attending a suitable refresher course.
What do I need?
No prior qualifications required although courses are restricted to 12 students.
What do I gain?
It is recommended that you attend a three-hour refresher course annually.
