Prospective students, parents/carers and teachers joined us today for a Foundation Open Event to discover more about the range of programmes available within this area at City of Oxford College.
Attendees had the opportunity to meet staff and current students, tour the facilities, and listen to a presentation from Elsbeth Tibbets, Director of Curriculum for Lifeskills.
Elsbeth provided a useful insight into why potential students should enrol in the Supported Foundation and Foundation learning programmes available, as well as discussing the differences across the programme tiers.
The programmes focus on how we help young people gain essential skills in: English, maths, digital skills, independent living skills and vocational learning - in areas as varied as catering, motor vehicle, childcare, hair and beauty or construction, to name but a few. She also provided an insight into work experience opportunities, the range of support available to help students succeed and the range of fun enrichment activities on offer.
Attendees also had the opportunity to take part in an informative Q&A session, where three Foundation students discussed in an honest and engaging manner their experiences at college, before asking potential students about their expectations of college. The event ended with a campus tour and an opportunity to network with other attendees.
