Foundation Studies students were delighted to showcase the very first T.F.N.L. newsletter this week and celebrated with a launch event on campus.
The group led by Editor Luke White, prepared for the newsletter by visiting Oxford University Press to learn about newspaper production.
A trip to the local cinema to watch Disney animation film Frozen resulted in the team producing a review of the film for the arts section of the publication.
The team also interviewed Activate Learning staff Amanda Cherry and Susanne Stanway for an article to gain an insight into their roles within the group.
Weekly meetings were held to delegate roles within the team and content was included by way of a majority vote.
The launch event culminated with student Usman Khan being awarded ‘Student of the term’ by the team and a ribbon was cut to celebrate his achievement.
Lorie Granville, Teacher commented: “I am really proud of how the students have worked as a team to create the newsletter. It has been a privilege to watch the students gain confidence and show respect for one anothers views and ideas.”
Carlo Salamone, Teacher commented: “It’s very pleasing to watch the students develop each in their individual ways, not just academically but also socially. The teamwork and commitment that they all showed was very impressive.”
