Ski Trip to Serre Chavalier

Travel and tourism students from Reading and Oxford recently went to Serre Chevalier, a major ski resort in South Eastern France, for a week.

Georgina Mills, travel and tourism tutor said: “The students had a fantastic time, they learnt about a lot about the ski industry and the Rep duties linked to this. They also had four hours of professional ski lessons a day. Many were non-skiers before they left the UK and by the end of the week they were managing to access the black ski runs!”

Molly Harris, one of the students on the trip said: “We went to this particular resort as it is a good tourist area as it has loads of different shops, bars and restaurants which are walking distance from the hotel.”

“We also had ski instructors to guide us around and help us get on the lifts and go up to the top of the mountains. There were beautiful views at the top.”

“When I started skiing I felt very nervous as I hadn't done it before and I had seen a lot of accidents happening on TV. After a few lessons I was much more confident and was going down the blue slopes with my hands in my pockets.”

“After doing this quite a few times I felt confident enough to go skiing in the afternoon on my own - it was one of the most amazing things I have ever done in my entire life!”
