Introduction to Traditional Upholstery

We are delighted to announce a brand new 6 week traditional upholstery course to begin 9th November 2017. This introduction to upholstery is for absolute beginners and will see you learn traditional craft techniques to build a hand-stitched and stuffed stool. A frame will be supplied by the college and use age old methods of construction and classic materials such as coir and animal hair to upholster the stool. All materials needed and frames are included in the price (except for top fabric) and no tools are required as they will be provided during the evenings. You will have the opportunity to buy tools through the college if you would like to continue working on your project at home.

Course teaching will be over six Thursday evenings 6.30 - 9pm. Teaching will take place in our brand new upholstery workshop in small groups by professional upholsterer Rachael Stevenson.

If you catch the bug and find that you would like to learn more then you will be able to book onto the longer and more comprehensive creative, traditional upholstery course beginning in Jan 2018 which will run 1 day a week, over the course of a year.
