What do I learn?
You learn by doing practical activities skill-based projects and watching tutor demonstrations on campus in our Rycotewood Furniture Centre workshops. The course includes lectures on timber technology designing and health and safety too. This is a very highly-regarded training centre for furniture making.
You are continuously assessed by practical exercises and written work. You produce a portfolio of learning and complete a timed practical assignment. There is also a one-hour multiple choice exam in health and safety.
What do I gain?
You develop your practical skills and gain a greater understanding of the bespoke furniture industry.
What do I need?
4 GCSEs grade D (including English & maths) or above and/or a completed Level 1 award

Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an internal assessment. All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.
What can I do next?
On completion of the course you could progress to a Level 3 course in furniture design and make or you can seek employment in the industry.
