Photovoltaic Systems - Installation (assessment only)

This PV course is for experienced PV installers who have achieved competency in a non-NOS-mapped course, require QCF accreditation in order to continue installing PV systems, and do not require any training.

What do I learn?
This course is assessment only. It covers the installation and inspection of photovoltaic (PV) systems in accordance with the new QCF framework qualification.

A training manual will be sent out to you 3-4 weeks before the course, and you will be expected to study in preparation for the assessments.

You are assessed in the classroom and the workshop. The assessment consists of an online multiple-choice exam, a paper-based exam and practical assessment in the workshop.
What do I gain?
This course leads to a Level 3 Award in the Installation of Photovoltaic Systems within the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).

The award is recognised by all the current Microgeneration Certification Schemes as meeting the requirement for appropriate training in the solar thermal technology.

Successful completion provides training evidence for suitably qualified individuals to include with applications for registration on a Microgeneration Certification Scheme that allows self-certification. It also acts as notification to building control departments.
What do I need?
To do this course you need to hold:
• a 17th Edition Wiring Regulations Certificate
• NVQ3 in Electrical Installation (Buildings and Structures) or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence
• Level 3 Award in Understanding the Fundamental Principles of Environmental Technologies
What do I gain?
The training is mapped to National Occupational Standards which means you receive the most beneficial and industry-relevant training possible.

Upon completion of this course you could progress to the Level 3 Award for Inspection and Maintenance of PV systems, or a Level 3 award in other environmental technologies.
