A-LEVELS – THE ESSENTIALS

A-levels are still the most popular route into university in the UK. A full-time A-level programme (three subjects) typically includes four hours of teaching per subject per week, plus tutorial and self-study time.

In 2017, Activate Learning had a 96% overall A-level pass rate, with 68% gaining A*-C grades.  Last year our students went on to study at 11 of the 24 Russell Group Universities, including the University of Oxford and King's College London.

WHAT WILL I STUDY

We have organised our subjects into pathways. Each pathway relates to a career destination or discipline and provides a selection of A-level choices, helping you gain sufficient UCAS points for your university application.

You will be encouraged to broaden your skills with additional activities, such as joining the Learner Voice network, taking on summer internships and participating on student trips. We will help your UCAS application be as strong as possible, so that you can impress university admissions teams, as an academically able, well rounded, independent individual.

WHAT OUR STUDENTS ARE SAYING

"I HAVE REALLY ENJOYED ALL THE SUBJECTS. I HAVE LEARNT AND I MADE A LOT OF FRIENDS. NOW I KNOW HOW TO APPLY THE INFORMATION I HAVE LEARNT. I HOPE TO GO TO UNIVERSITY AND STUDY BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE. THIS COURSE HAS MADE ME MUCH MORE CONFIDENT.”

Francesca Dowding, AS Chemistry, Biology, Psychology and English

"I STUDIED A-LEVELS IN HISTORY, BUSINESS, ENGLISH LITERATURE AND LANGUAGE. I REALLY ENJOYED THE ADULT ENVIRONMENT, BEING IN A COLLEGE, AND LEARNING SKILLS SUCH AS REACHING A GOOD EVALUATION WITH EVIDENCE OR ANALYSING THE UNDERLYING MEANING OF THINGS. WHEN I FINISH THE COURSE, I’M PLANNING TO GO TO THE UNIVERSITY OF READING TO STUDY LAW AND AM CONSIDERING A CAREER IN CORPORATE LAW."

Tristan Groves, A-levels

"MY TEACHERS WERE REALLY KNOWLEDGEABLE, HELPFUL AND ORGANISED. WE DID LOTS OF MOCK EXAMS, WHICH I LIKED. I ASKED EXTRA QUESTIONS AFTER CLASS AND THE TEACHERS WERE ALWAYS VERY PATIENT WITH ME."

Emma (Qi) Wang, A-levels

Please choose three A-level subjects from within one pathway. Please contact us to discuss any requests to mix subjects from different pathways.
