What do I learn?
The course is assessment-only. It covers the installation, commissioning and handover of solar thermal hot water systems to the new QCF framework qualification.
A training manual which accompanies the course will be sent out to you 3-4 weeks before the course and you will be expected to study in preparation for the assessments. You are assessed in classroom and in the workshop by a skilled tutor. Your assessment consists of an online multiple-choice exam, a paper-based exam and a practical assessment in the workshop.
What do I gain?
The course and certificate are recognised by all the current Microgeneration Certification Schemes as meeting the requirement for appropriate training in solar thermal technology.
Successful completion provides training evidence for suitably-qualified individuals to include with their application for registration on a Microgeneration Certification Scheme that allows self-certification. It also works as notification to building control departments of work completed.
What do I need?
• a G3 certificate in domestic unvented hot water systems, energy efficiency, water regulations and NVQ Level 2 in plumbing and heating
• 3 years industry experience and a non-QCF qualification in solar thermal hot water systems
The Level 3 Award in Understanding the Fundamental Principles of Environmental Technologies is also a requirement for this course.
What do I gain?
This course leads to a Level 3 award within the Qualifications and Credit Framework. The training has been mapped to National Occupational Standards which means you are receiving the most beneficial and industry-relevant training possible.
Upon completion of this course you can progress to our Level 3 Award in Maintenance and Inspection of Solar Thermal Hot Water Systems.
