What do I learn?
This course covers the installation, commissioning and handover of solar thermal hot water systems to the new QCF framework qualification.
The assessment consists of an online multiple-choice exam, paper-based exam and practical assessments.
A training manual which accompanies the course will be sent out to you 3-4 weeks prior to attendance and you will be expected to self study in preparation for the assessments. This course consists of classroom and workshop training, plus assessment.
What do I gain?
This award is recognised by all the current Microgeneration Certification Schemes (MCS) as meeting the requirement for appropriate training in solar thermal technology. Successful completion means you can include it as training evidence when you apply to register on a Microgeneration Certification Scheme which allows self-certification. It also serves as notification to building control departments of work completed.
What do I need?
You need a G3 certificate in domestic unvented hot water systems, energy efficiency, water regulations and NVQ Level 2 in plumbing and heating, or 3 years industry experience. The Level 3 Award in Understanding the Fundamental Principles of Environmental Technologies is also required.
What do I gain?
This course leads to a Level 3 award within the Qualifications and Credit Framework. The training has been mapped to National Occupational Standards, which means you receive the most beneficial and industry-relevant training possible.
On completion of this course you can then progress to the Level 3 Award for Inspection and Maintenance of Solar Thermal Systems, or a Level 3 award in other environmental technologies.
